Please join WHF for a conversation on the role of title insurance in affordable housing development.  Julia Solo of Federated National Land, LLC will provide a basic overview of what it is and why you need it, review differences in policy types, walk us through the documents, discuss risk management, and as always, entertain our many questions.

As SVP and Counsel for Federated National Land, an MWBE Title Company certified in NYC and NJ, Julia works on numerous complex affordable housing transactions throughout the New York area. Prior to joining the Title Insurance world, Julia spent 15 years working as an attorney specializing in affordable housing, closing a diverse portfolio of complex projects including supportive housing developed by non-profit developers, tax-exempt bond and credit projects, HUD financed projects, and a range of preservation deals. Most recently serving as Acting Chief Legal Officer for the New York Equity Fund (NYEF) and New York City LISC, she has also worked at Nixon Peabody LLP, the National Equity Fund, and the Washington DC and New York City offices of HUD. This background provides her with a unique skill set with respect to her provision of substantive assistance to projects in the land and title arena.

Julia is a member of the NYC Bar Association’s Committee on Housing and Urban Development. She also sits on the Board of the NY State Association of Affordable Housing and is a member of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Affordable Housing and the NY State Bar Association's Real Estate Committee. Julia served for 6 years as the Vice President of Programs for WHF!
