Settlement Housing - Director of Construction

Settlement Housing Fund is hiring a Director of Construction.

The Director of Construction will possess many of the following skills and qualifications:

  • At least 7-10 years of experience in construction administration at construction sites whether at a general contractor, owner’s representative, facilities manager, or architecture/engineering firm.
  • Experience in both new construction and preservation.
  • Experience with affordable housing development and New York City Design guidelines. Experience with supportive housing is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and writing skills; detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, complete multiple tasks with simultaneous deadlines, and prioritize projects.
  • Demonstrated track record of learning quickly and
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, suggest new ideas, and move tasks forward.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate closely with others. Needs to be an excellent communicator in person, by phone, and by email.
  • Able to make strong analytical decisions with incomplete information.
  • Available for frequent local travel (within walking distance of public transit) and occasional weeknight work. SHF staff are expected to be in the office or on site at least two days per week and may work remotely up to three days per week. Due to the nature of construction, this role may need to be on site more than two days per week.  Commitment to principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.  Salary $130,000-165,000
